AUTO-MAS Visual Assets License Agreement
Important
The source code of this software is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL). Images, icons, illustrations, and other visual assets are not licensed under AGPL, and do not obtain the same license merely because they are distributed with the software. Ownership, scope of use, redistribution duties, and commercial authorization are governed solely by the body of this Agreement.
This English page is a convenience translation. For compliance purposes, the Chinese Agreement is authoritative; in case of conflict, the Chinese text prevails unless a bilingual instrument expressly provides otherwise.
1. Definitions and Interpretation
Unless the context otherwise requires, the following terms have the meanings set out below:
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Software | Programs, source code, installers, mirrors, and officially maintained derivative distributions published in the name of the AUTO-MAS Team. |
| Code | Program source, build scripts, and configuration files in textual or compilable form. |
| Visual assets | Images, icons, illustrations, vector graphics, animation frames, textures, brand marks, and other visual works itemized in the Section 4.1 main table, including resized, reformatted, cropped, or recolored copies. |
| Externally introduced resources | Resources listed in Section 4.2. The AUTO-MAS project team holds no copyright or licensed rights in them. This Agreement sets no substantive terms for them; use, modification, and redistribution are governed solely by the license published by the original publisher. |
| Use | Copying, displaying, adapting, compiling, disseminating, embedding in software or web pages, or using in promotional materials, and other exercises of copyright-related rights within the meaning of the Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China. |
| Commercial use | Use aimed at, or forming part of consideration for, direct or indirect economic gain, including without limitation paid software, commercial advertising, product packaging, paid-service marketing, and corporate external brand materials. Whether use is commercial is judged by purpose and effect; when in doubt, obtain written authorization in advance. |
| Non-commercial use | Use not aimed at economic gain, including personal study, non-profit research, and non-commercial display. |
| Moral rights | The rights of publication, authorship, alteration, and integrity under the Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China. Such rights belong exclusively to the author and are non-transferable, non-waivable, and non-deprivable. |
| Economic rights | The rights of reproduction, distribution, information network transmission, adaptation, compilation, and other economic rights under Article 10, paragraph 1, items (5) through (17) of the Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China. Such rights may be assigned or licensed according to law. |
| Rights-allocation ID | The unique ID assigned to each authorization model in Section 4.1.1, used to link the main table to the rights schedule. |
| Commercial rights contact | The party authorized to issue commercial-use grants on behalf of the project team. |
| Redistribution | Copying, modifying, packaging, mirroring, or further distributing the Software, or separately disseminating any visual asset listed in Section 4.1. |
2. Effect of the Agreement and Redistribution Duties
2.1 Accompanying effect
- Inseparability: This Agreement is an inseparable part of any Software distribution, source package, or redistribution, and remains effective regardless of medium, channel, or packaging.
- Priority: The main-repository README, app-store descriptions, video introductions, and other summaries are for guidance only and do not replace, narrow, or waive obligations under this Agreement. For ownership, use conditions, and redistribution duties concerning Section 4.1 visual assets, the body of this Agreement controls.
2.2 Redistribution duties for Section 4.1 visual assets
Anyone who redistributes Section 4.1 visual assets must perform all of the following:
- Accompanying Agreement: Provide the full text of this Agreement, or a working, publicly accessible link to this page; the link should remain resolvable for a reasonable period.
- No stripping: Do not delete, alter, obscure, or conceal this Agreement or its effective link; do not distribute visual assets alone without this Agreement; do not replace the itemized inventory with vague wording.
- Preserve attribution and ownership information: Do not remove embedded or accompanying copyright notices, author credits, or source identifiers.
- No up-licensing claims: Do not claim that visual assets “may be freely commercialized or taken proprietary because the code is AGPL”; do not assert any right beyond the end-user rights in the Section 4.1.1 schedule for the applicable rights-allocation ID.
- Adaptation notice: If a Section 4.1 visual asset is adapted (and the corresponding rights allocation grants the project team adaptation rights), state the fact of adaptation and the adapter’s identity in the accompanying Agreement materials, without prejudice to the author’s rights of authorship and integrity.
2.3 Exemption and independent compliance for externally introduced resources
- Substantive exemption: Section 4.2 externally introduced resources are fully exempt from the substantive terms of this Agreement. Separate use, extraction, or further dissemination of such resources need not comply with Section 2.2; only the original publisher’s license applies.
- Notice when shipped with the Software: When externally introduced resources are redistributed as part of the Software as a whole, the redistributor must still retain this Agreement document itself (as an inseparable part of the Software distribution) and satisfy all substantive conditions of each external resource’s original license. If an original-license URL becomes invalid, update it to a working address or provide an archived copy in a timely manner.
3. Ownership Framework
This section sets the ownership framework and use principles for Section 4.1 visual assets.
3.1 Scope
The substantive terms of this Agreement (ownership, licenses, commercial restrictions, redistribution duties, and the like) bind only the visual assets listed in Section 4.1. Section 4.2 externally introduced resources are not bound by those substantive terms.
3.2 Copyright ownership
Copyright in each visual asset vests in the party named under “Copyright holder” in the Section 4.1 main table. No one may claim any copyright or right to use a visual asset solely because “the code is open source” or “the asset ships with open-source software.”
3.3 Moral rights
Moral rights remain with the author forever and do not transfer by assignment, license, or distribution. Every use must respect the author’s moral rights.
3.4 Allocation of economic rights
The ownership and exercise of economic rights are determined by the Section 4.1.1 schedule corresponding to the main-table “Rights-allocation ID.” Core principles:
- The project team may not grant users any license beyond the rights the project team itself holds.
- Rights dimensions not listed in the schedule remain with the author by default; neither the project team nor end users hold them.
3.5 Commercial use
Commercial-use licensing for Section 4.1 visual assets is exercised uniformly by the commercial rights contact. No party may use the relevant assets for commercial purposes without that contact’s prior written (including verifiable electronic) authorization.
3.6 Non-commercial use
Subject to Section 2 redistribution duties and the main-table attribution requirements, end users may use Section 4.1 assets for personal study, non-profit research, or non-commercial display to the extent allowed by the applicable license type. Precise boundaries follow the corresponding rights-allocation schedule.
3.7 No brand confusion
Even with a non-commercial license, brand-mark assets must not be used in a manner likely to cause the public to believe there is sponsorship, endorsement, affiliation, or official partnership with the AUTO-MAS project team.
4. Asset Inventory

4.1.1 Rights-allocation schedule
This schedule sets the rights boundaries among the author, the AUTO-MAS project team, and end users for each rights-allocation ID. The main-table “Rights-allocation ID” column refers to the matching row below.
Rights dimensions not listed here remain with the author by default; neither the project team nor end users hold them.

4.2 Externally introduced resources
This section only identifies which resources are externally introduced. The AUTO-MAS project team holds no copyright or licensed rights in them.
This Agreement sets no substantive use conditions for externally introduced resources. Whether or not they ship with the Software, their use, modification, and redistribution are governed only by the license published by the original publisher, and need not comply with Section 2.2.
Note: The “script-type logos” below are often upstream brand marks. An upstream repository’s SPDX open-source license does not necessarily cover its brand artwork; users must also comply with that project’s and its rightsholders’ brand and trademark policies.
| Resource name | Path | Original license reference (if no specific license is published, the upstream repository link is given) |
|---|---|---|

4.3 Resources with rights status pending verification
For any image, binary, or visual file present in a repository but not yet listed in Section 4.1 or 4.2:
- Do not presume free use. Omission from the inventory is not a waiver of rights and is not a default license.
- Contact the commercial rights contact to verify status; only after verification and completed authorization may an asset be moved into Section 4.1.
- Until verified, such resources may exist only as placeholders in internal build processes and must not be redistributed or publicly displayed.
5. Third-Party Compliance Guide
Copy-ready summaries and embed templates for visual assets in which the AUTO-MAS project team holds rights, for non-commercial use only.
Important
- Templates are for convenience only and do not narrow or replace obligations under this Agreement. Users must still comply with the Agreement in full.
- These templates cover non-commercial use only; commercial use requires prior written authorization from the commercial rights contact.
- These templates do not apply to Section 4.2 external resources (follow each resource’s original license).
- Resources with rights status pending verification under Section 4.3 must not appear in any public distribution or public template.
- When citing multiple assets, you may use a table, but each item must retain its own asset ID and copyright holder.
